In 2000,
Roth completed a documentary photography project commissioned
by the Los Angeles Public Library, entitled Inside/Out:
Downtown Los Angeles, that challenged long held perceptions
of the citys center, and illuminated the cultural and ethnic
diversity of the downtown area of Los Angeles. The resulting
images were exhibited at the Los Angeles Public Library from
July 1- September 24, 2000, to coincide with the Democratic National
Convention. In August of 2001, Roth's second book was published
by Angel City Press, entitled Real City, Downtown Los Angeles
Inside/Out, which incorporated many of the images from
the Library project. The accompanying text to "Real City" by
